The group Bombay Vikings caused a sensation both in India as well as overseas among the Indian music community due to its unusual combination of classical Bollywood style and European experimentation. It has been one of the most notable musical groups in India to emerge in the past decade. The leader of the band is Neeraj Shridhar who grew up in Sweden, listening to Hindi music of his parents who migrated Sweden from India.

The music of Bombay Vikings draws inspiration from the classic Hindi music of the 1940s-1970s however adds modern European influences. One example is “Zara nazron se kehdo”, an Indian 2006 hit song, produced by European music producers Soundism.

Neeraj with his voice control, diction and sheer range became sound vocals base. His ability to pull strings on the guitar and to compose and write songs – ranging from pop rock, jazz, hip-hop, soul and reggae- took the band to a higher plane.
