Dilwale (2015) | Release: 2015

Dilwale, the very name sets you on a path of reverie, celebrating 20 years of success for Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. The Kajol-Shahrukh magic comes alive with splendor and if you are a Rohit Shetty follower, you can also find glimpses of the Golmaal series here. Perfectly colorful frames, series of jaguars and SUVs  toppling over each other, breathtaking locations at Bulgaria and Goa, perfectly illuminated faces of the 2 lead pairs, sensational music that holds on the top ranks of the chartbusters makes bearable the unrealistic plot, the drab humor and the illogical trail of events.

The story oscillates between a time span of 15yrs, involving gang wars and an electrifying story of unrequited love. The ever young Shahrukh Khan romances the innocent and vivacious Kajol only to find out in a while that she is the daughter of the opposition gang leader who is all set to take not his heart but his life. The two lovers, ready to slit each other’s throats, reach a point of extreme misunderstanding and bloodshed hence partying ways never to meet again.

But if it’s a story involving Bollywood’s  top rated Jodi even the universe conspires to make them hit each other once again in a different land with different identities names and occupations and of course much lesser wealth. Sharukh aka Raj now runs an impressive auto garage and transforms less fortunate local vehicles almost into premium models. Shahrukh’s younger brother the super hunk super energetic boy doted  by his elder brother, played convincingly by Varun Dhawan, falls in love with this ‘Tall girl hard to find these days’.the criteria for his choice of a girlfriend perfectly suits Kriti Sanan who eventually turns out to be Kajol’s pampered younger sister. we suddenly find all the lovers with a plethora of emotions love- anger -hatred –confusion-vulnerability all in the beautiful beaches of Goa.

The silence of expression amongst estranged lovers is filled up with the romantic renditions of music composer Pritam and Singer Arijit .The ever ruling color of love scarlet seems to have been heavily challenged by Gerua(saffron). The Foreign locations are enthralling. Expressions of passion and pain by the senior love Gods and the absolute energy of the younger pair are infectious.

There are other important characters as well played by Boman Irani , Johny Lever, Sanjay Mishra,  Varun Sharma , Vinod Khanna , Kabir Bedi  who from time to time add on to the confusion complexity and humour quotient of the plot.

IMDb rates it at 5.3 .But always remember if you want a light hearted comedy thriller romance all in one go to de-stress you, if you want to shoo away you pessimism by applauding for lovers who survive bullets in their hearts and major car accidents, then Dilwale is a must watch for you.
